I’m running an 18” Encore barrel and was wondering what bullet to use. I use 200 grain Sierras in my 14” but would like to run something a little heavier in this barrel. I’m primarily hunting smallish white tails and hogs. I have some Speer 235 grain bullets but I’ve heard reports of them being too hard for the velocities generated by the jdj. I’ve heard of the Hornady 270 grain SP, but I’m curious if it would expand in a whitetail. Anyone tried the Speer 270 BTSP, I read it was a really soft bullet and would expand down to 1800 FPS. That would be about perfect, thoughts?

I have been using the 250 grain sierra. Was told it works very well in this round.

The extinct 225gr Hornady Spire was ideal.

For short range any of the bullets for the 375 Winchester will work. Lehigh makes some interesting bullets and I believe they have a sub sonic .375. Their softer Controlled Caos are supposed to perform down to 1,600 fps.

This, if you can find some.

...and the Hornady 220 FP hammers deer but doesn't have the range that the 225 SP does. Again, if you can find some.
