the family of Mary Lou Whitney, who recently died, is asking for $180 million for the land.
Think I'll have to pass right now. Maybe if a stimulus check comes in.

I'm wondering if the state will purchase it and add it to the park, or if they will let it be sold so they can continue to collect taxes on it. Personally I'm hoping for the first option. There's some monster bucks, bruins and brookies on that piece!
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

Talk about a White Elephant. I wouldn't take it as a gift if I had to live there and couldn't ever sell it.

I'll bet it is some beautiful property. I hope it doesn't fall into the hands of developers.

I'd clear cut it and make my money back in a few years. Stick a Sam's Club and an outlet mall in there, maybe an Applebees and Olive Garden

Beautiful area and great hunting.
They really need to cut off the Hudson valley from Albany down and shove it into ocean. It’s a crime what they have done to upstate. And float Buffalo into the lake while they’re at it. FUAC

Oldelkhunter-- I'd guess that it would be almost impossible to develop this area. It's my understanding the Adirondack Park Agency rules the roost and very powerful. You would have to jump through hoops even to log timber there.

I'm sure there are deer back in there that have never seen or smelled a human. And native brook trout that don't know what a hook is.
Fall seven times, stand up eight.

I spent the first 21 years of my life 20 min away from the Whitney park. If Jeff Bezos himself bought this place there’s no way a sams club, Walmart or amazon to go store gets built within 50 miles.

From what I've heard if it weren't for the Adirondack park being created so long ago then the whole region would today be an overdeveloped toilet.
