Just learned from a magazine article that such a thing as a .410 shotgun bbl exists for my .303 S rifle. Any idea of a price range or a whereabouts? Or perhaps a .30-30 bbl)Thanks.

They pop up on auction sites fairly regularly. Made for takedowns..

And the price ain't cheap. Couple hundred bucks on up.. and up..

As to the 30-30, I'd suggest you might be better off selling off your 303 Savage and picking up a separate 30-30 rather than trying to mix and match barrels.

What kind of Savage you got? We're always curious, and we'll pass on what we know if you can describe it in detail or, better yet, post a pic. Also, head to www.savagela.org and view the pics sections for all the different models. Should be able to find a 410 barrel in there also, look under the 99G's for a boxed set.

I had one and used it its a pain and not worth the effort for hunting. if it wasen't added from the factory it won't add much to the value of the firearm . but some people have to have one anyway. grin

Hey Cal.

The information that I received for the serial number for the rifle is 1997. Second to last year before production stopped if I am correct!! The serial number again is: F6242XX. I got the date of manufacture from this site. If I am wrong, please let me know!! Here are some pictures:

From the info I have, 1997 would be correct. It is late enough production that Savage will still repaired if you have problems.

Truthfully, I had no idea they made them at recently. When was the official end of production, then?
