As my eyes have aged, I’m finding it easier to use a red dot than open sights. Rifle will be an AK for general plinking and perhaps, to use to thin the local doe population. It will go on top of a TWS Dogleg Rail Mount. Anyone have any experience with these red dots? I’m particularly focused on the sights with the motion activated feature to preserve battery life. Anything else you suggest I look at? It’s hard to justify the coin of stepping up to aim point/eotech.

I just got a model 510 on the recommendation of a local GS. Seems to be a step up, middle price as you said.
So far so good. I'm not crazy about how the battery holder works, but that is minor because the batteries seem to have a long life.
I do like the ability to switch among three reticles.

Had a Holosun HS503CU and it flared for me, but, I have since determined all these tube type dots seem to. I called Holosun and got a USA person right away which was cool.

I have a couple, an HS503FL and an HS503GU. They are great. used them for over 4 years now, never a problem. That being said, I am migrating to prism scopes due to astigmatism eye problems. The Holosun's have a 2 minute dot. I prefer the side battery compartment and if I ever bought another red dot, it would be another Holosun, and have flip caps like my HS503FL. RJ

I know of a couple of police agencies that authorize Holoson for pistols . The people I know who have them really like them.

Took my battery out, reinstalled it and this rebooted system. Works great now.
Nice having 3 reticles to toggle through I have 507C.
Holosun CS was fantastic
