I found it. It's very workable for what we wanted. We just shot our handguns and the AR's. There was one guy down on the rifle range. Looks like it goes out to about 100 yards, maybe further.

Took our first recon mission looking for deer this week. Time to start scouting out some new spots. Hope to hike some logging trails soon.

With the high being 96 degrees today...I'll pass til fall! lol Did you get carried away by horse flies?
For whatever reason, there were deer moving all day long on Saturday. I bet I saw 10 of them, even in the middle of the day.

We didn't see any. Going to try to get out at least three nights a week going forward for some recon.

Saw a bunch of deer along the interstate yesterday. They looked about ready to pop in this heat. Don't recall seeing that many this time of year usually. I'll be hunting some new areas this fall but this isn't comfortable scouting weather for me. I'd rather be chasing walleyes anyway 😁. Got a local tournament on Saturday I'll be fishing with my dad and son. It'll be great regardless of how the fish cooperate

Cathy and I went out and rode some new to us trails last night. I've got a scope coming in from Doug (gr8tfuldog) today for my crossbow. Gonna hunt the Camp Ripley archery hunt this year. Hoping to get in on at least one of the municipality archery hunts near me. Looking at an old beat up 7mm Mauser. It would need a lot of work, and while I really don't need another deer rifle, I've always wanted a 7X57. Stock's junk and the barrel would need shortened. It's got a scope safety, bent bolt and Weaver bases so that part of the work is all ready done. He wants $200.00 for it, and I thought I'd throw $150.00 at him and see if he bites. I'd be looking at getting the barrel shortened and re-crowned, and dropping in a Timney for starters. It would eventually need a stock, but i could make due with what's there for this year.

Pretty excited to find out earlier last week, on my 7th try I drew a SD West River Whitetail tag. Took the week before Thanksgiving off and the week of Thanksgiving off to do some freezer filling.
Have 15 rounds loaded of each for .243 and 6.5CM to try to dial in a load.
Jack and his fishing partner had their first HS fishing tournament on Friday. It was the first tourney for either of them....they won with 16.72 pounds. Some excited boys there too!

I think the one that was a last second cast at the boat landing was just over 3 and the biggest. Most were 2lb 12oz’ish. They won by just a few ounces. The funny part is almost everyone got to see them catch it since they were waiting at the ramp.

Do any of our Minnesota boys live near Dalton or Ashby, which were in the path of that killer tornado last night? Hope everyone's okay.

Caroline & her boy friend Nathan can home for 4 days, from Toronto. Took them out on Eagle lake yesterday; Shot some stuff (targets) too; 30 yard bag, is behind deck post; Rode wheelers out the back paddock & picked blueberries, raspberries & chanterelles. Shared lots of great food. Great time was had !
