I believe there will be some justice denied in the end. There are still two benefits which we can gain:
1) Political theater which will help trump get elected
2) Even if low and mid level players are prosecuted it is a win.
If no one gets prosecuted it will be a complete failure. Define "Low Level". Anyone lower than mid level. Names.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man a welfare check, a forty ounce malt liquor, a crack pipe, an Obama phone, free health insurance. and some Air Jordan's and he votes Democrat for a lifetime.

Does anyone actually expect or rely on NPR to tell the truth? My thoughts exactly. Why would an investigator tell Brennan he won't be held accountable for any potential crimes BEFORE an interview?

Investigators have an obligation to tell prospective witnesses if they are a subject of an investigation, a target of an investigation, or simply a witness. These designations have legal significance, but you can go from a witness to a target in a hurry.
Targets of an investigation are advised in writing in what's known as a "target letter".
It appears that Brennan was told he wasn't a target. He is most certainly a subject of Durham's probe. His actions are central to what Durham is investigating, but that doesn't mean he did or didn't do anything wrong. It means we don't know yet.
As I stated previously in this post there is a high probability that many people and entities are going to be indicted on financial crimes (money laundering, wire fraud, bank fraud etc.) It's impossible to hide illegal movements of money and this is what prosecutors are looking at. Billions of dollars were raised and spent by SuperPacs far beyond any previous elections. This continued through the 2018 mid-term elections.
The easiest thing for prosecutors to do is follow the money.
