Sell it and buy a winchester. The safety on the m1917 is one of its best features.

I do like the safety on Enfield but this Remington 30s has had the bolt turned and we are past that safety now. I have enough pre 64 70s 4 or 5 . Need has nothing to do with this project . If I was smart I would have just kept shooting my pre 64 FW 70 270 I have shot it for over the last 40 years. Ron Kesselring rebarrled it for me in 1981 or 82 I wanted a new rifle he talked me into putting on a new barrel Douglass xx . That was the best move I ever made. Just a dumb kid that didn't know much. Still don't from the sounds of this project. This 30s only cost 150.00 guy said it was a junk 1917 why would I argue . Had a pack Myer swing mount on it with old weaver scope . The safety will cost close to twice that before its done if my guess is close Wood stock 300.to 600.00 blank Block Just a mouny pit but if you can get to the end you may have something pretty nice If cost is just the issue just buy a finished gun. Not the smartest move on my part for sure . Not sure of Cal yet ? 375 H&H or bigger
The Only time I am the smartest guy in the room is when I am buy myself.
