I'm trying to help a buddy find a first gun for his 14 year old son. The kid wants a 308 and really likes the walnut and blued over the new plastic stocked stuff so I thought I'd reach out to see if anyone has one they would part with. I'm thinking an 80's era Model 70 XTR Featherweight would be a good choice, but I think he would be open to most anything in good condition with a nice wood stock. CDNN also has some short action Model 70 stocks for $50 which would be good to cut down for the next couple of years until he grows into the full sized stock.

I've got this one that I never did sell and put back in a corner somewhere. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/15075571/1I also have a 70's vintage push feed full size that I could part with.
I am always looking for factory wood stocks!

I have a push feed plastic stocked 308 with scope and rings, that I will donate to the young man if he is interested.

I have a New Haven classic compact that I may part with. It was for my daughter, but she prefers the .257 Bob.

Thanks so much for the responses and I really want to thank Peck for the very generous offer. I let him know that his gun would be better served going to someone that would otherwise not have a gun. So we're still looking and to clarify, we're looking for a full size gun with a full sized stock. The plan is to pick up a cheap stock to cut down for the next couple of years until he grows into the the full size stock.

I have a 270 sears husqvarna that is getting its cut down stock refinished with a curly maple cap and a crossbolt installed. It will be for sale when I get it back from the wood craftsman.
