I just bought a rod from Tillamook Sporting Goods and came away impressed with quality, price and service. They have some "house" rods with their store name as a brand that appear to be superb value. I bought a 10 1/2 foot graphite for $79.99 that felt identical in every way to a major brand rod beside it that costs $250. They have some 8.5 foot jigging rods and some 11 foot river casters for the same price, and all of them appear high quality. I suspect but could not prove that the brand name unloaded some blanks, probably for cash flow reasons, and that part of the deal is that finished rods cannot carry anything identifying them with the pricy brand. The clerks knew their stuff and astounded me by letting me rig up a rod and reel, put on the weight I wanted to try and take it into the parking lot to test cast. Basically, I wanted to "overload" the rod's printed lure weight range and see how it handled the extra weight. I like a light rod, but when I fish the Fraser for salmon, sometimes you have to put on a pretty heavy weight to contact bottom. Anyway, good outfit, and while they last, they have some good rods at a good price.
