owned one Kimber. A stainless commander 1911. They look pretty, but too many jams, plus I prefer a barrel bushing.

I have the same one. Hands down the most accurate 1911 I have ever owned or shot. Love the feel of the bobtail also.

Probably because of disparaging comments towards Kimber pistols in this and other threads. Some people seem to have it out for Kimber. I've never had anything but positive experiences with them.

I've owned three: two 1911s, and one lightweight, compact, bolt action in .308 Winchester. After the gun store replaced the rifle for the third time, and it had the same malfunction as the previous two, he gave me a full refund. The two 1911s were miserably unreliable, and got sold. My criticism is based solidly on past experience. I don't hold a grudge against Kimber because its owner once kicked my dog or some such.

I get it. I'd have a bad taste in my mouth from that as well. I have bias against certain manufacturers of different things based on my experiences as well. The SS series 80 Colt 1911 I traded for the Kimber was good with ball ammo but very sketchy with wadcutters, had a terrible trigger and was a lot less accurate than it should have been. I'd have to convince myself if getting another Colt, but I am sure they have made a lot of good pistols over the last thirty years. Now I just need the market to settle down so I don't have to pay through the nose for the next one, wherever it may come from.
