Any one here have or have experience or knowledge regarding a lever action .414 super mag? at least I think that is what it's called. Think of a 357 max but with a 41 rem mag instead.

I've read a lot on the 414 as a revolver round but have only heard of a couple of Marlins being thus chambered. I think it would be a great lever gun round. It would be very similar to, a little shorter, but close to the 405 JES. JES Reboring offers the 405 JES as a rebore option from his shop. Easily done with a lever 30-30 or 32 Special. He's done several Marlin 336's to his 405 but requires they be the ones with a forend cap rather than the barrel band.
The 405 JES is the 444 Marlin sized down to .411. No bottle neck, just a straight taper.

I was hoping to shoot both .414 and .41 mag out of the same rifle. Much as I do in my 357 Lever with 38's or 357 Mag in my 357 max. What I was really hoping was someone here had one they don't shoot any longer.

You might give JES a call. He might be able to do a 414 on a Marlin for you. His rebore work is outstanding and His turn around is fast.

It seems that you would spend a lot of money vs what you would get ballistically. But if you wanted something that no one else shoots...and there is the reason why no one else shoots it.

I had a 445SM Marlin 336. It started as a 30-30. The barrel was swapped with a 1894 44 Mag barrel that was rechambered. I suspect that a 1894 357 Mag barrel could be rebored and rechambered or a new custom barrel could be installed. Regan Nonneman is a knowledgeable smith that could put it all together. https://www.leveractions.com/leveractions.htm

Thanks fir the link. I have a 357 lever that I shoot. And a 41 rem mag revolver. MD opened a straight wall hunting season that I'll be using my 357 max. That open my mind to a 41 in a lever and after looking around on the net started thinking 414 in a lever. I mean I already have bullets, Boolit molds, and loading dies. That's how it started. After see prices for a marlin 41 mag. on GB Well, that may be how it ends. LOL

Camotruck, Here is your .41 plinker/small game, medium/large game, and Dangerous Game rifle all in one rifle! Winchester 1895 .405 WCF loaded with 210 grain .41 cal pistol bullets, 300 grain .405 bullets and .411 400 grain Woodleigh bullets. From elves to elephants - literally.

Don't think I didn't look at that caliber. But it was in a Ruger No 1. That is a beautiful firearm though. Out of curiosity, Will it fire .41 mag ans .414 ?

I hand load the Hornady XTP 210 grain .41 mag bullets into the .405 case.
