Was able to score a few pounds as can use it in .45 ACP. I have some left over 200 gr round nose for target/steel plate use so any one has any pet reload recipes? Seems you can obtain same velocity levels as with popular Power Pistol.

Here are my notes using 8.0 gr Longshot (note that Hodgdon lists 7.8 as max, and Hornady lists max as 8.6, so I settled on 8.0 as having a margin of safety using a
powder measure)

200 Speer Gold Dot Expected velocity:
8.0 Longshot Hodgdon: >1,017 7.8 listed max
Federal LP primer Hornady: <950

5" Colt 4.25" Ruger LW
951 901
931 870
973 948
927 915
957 941
Average: 947.8 915
Spread: 46 78

Hope this helps.

It works, but not my favorite. The 45acp operates at too low a pressure in my opinion, so I prefer a slightly faster powder.
Now if you up the pressure to at least 45Super then Longshot shines.

Great for .460 Rowland. Probably for the Super. (I do not do the Super. )

Not so much for the .45ACP. It needs Higher pressures to work well. Even 45ACP +P is not hot enough.

Gun Shows are almost as comical as boat ramps in the Spring.

It's a wonderful powder in 45 ACP, I use 8grs under 200gr XTP's for great accuracy in a Fusion Arms custom for 1050 fps, and 7grs under 230gr Dold Dots for 966 fps in a G21.

I love the stuff, also use it in:

9mm
38 Super
40 S&W
10mm

I loaded 6.7 grains of Longshot behind Hornady 230 gr HAP's for 800 FPS for Club's Steel Plate shoot. Longshot has a reputation as being "Loud Shot", they were louder than prior Powder Pistol loads, accuracy was fine hitting plates @ 25 yrds plus. The Winchester large pistol primer while hooter than others noticed cleaning my Dan Wesson 1911 LongShot isn't clean burning so if you have to run hotter then pushing bullets faster than needed for shooting steel plates (Action Pistol).
