Being able to carry a couple gas cans is more than convenient in the back country.

That too.

Neat. But range to recharge would bother me. And, as was said above, a lot of stuff to need repairs,

I don't know about this one but some of those EV's take a special hookup for fast charging. A 120V generator can take 10 hrs or more. You need to carry gas cans to feed the generator. I'd rather put the gas in the car's tank.

Heck, thought those were all the rage years ago, all the cool folks I knew had ugly yellow ones. These days, I'd much prefer an old surplus jeep!

I like the underside camera to see obstacles. First time through a mud hole and there goes the camera until you hit a car wash that does the underside of a vehicle. Totally useless methinks.

Redneck: Some years ago I was contracted to move a Hummer H-2 (gas powered deluxe sedan model) from Montana to St. Augustine, Florida and then to take their Hummer H-1 (diesel military model) from Florida back to their "summer home" (mansion!) in Montana.
Once back to Montana my instructions for the diesel H-1 was to "disconnect the battery" and something else - I forget.
But I had to refer to the H-1's "owners manual" - I fetch it from the glove box and out falls the original window sticker price page that had been placed in there. The sticker price back then was $126,000.00 - this was back in 1997'ish and there was a LONG waiting list for these at that time - and that waiting to buy list lasted for many years!
So $120,000.00 in todays dollars won't deter THAT type of buyer!
By the way when I parked the diesel H-1 in the owners mansion here in Montana it was parked in their huge garage right next to a Hummer H-2 "pick-up" style gas deluxe model!
Those two rich people LOVED their three Hummers.
I kind of enjoyed driving them the 2,500 miles each way - the diesel H-1 was DESPERATELY slow though with a top speed of 61 M.P.H. (as per owners instructions and "red line"!).
They both had wonderful directional stability and steering was a breeze.
I hope those who invest in the electric Hummers enjoy them - out of my league, but good for those that want them.

Ditto.

As for the 350 mile range, I wonder what the range is with the air conditioner or heater turned on, or at 10 degrees below zero, or after 20,000 miles on the batteries.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

I think the solution would be to pull into an automated gas station where a robotic arm swaps out your battery pack with a newly charged one. Similar approach tto swapping out propane cylinders at Home Depot- you aren't buying the cylinder , you are just swapping out an empty one for a full one.

Of course the industry would have to standardize on battery packs and placement.

You pay extra for those swap tanks because you seldom use all that's in them. If they aren't empty, you lose what's left in them. It would be the same for swapping batteries. If it has 20% left in it, you lose that many miles.

Came to post this. The only way that electric vehicles can be universally viable is to standardize battery dimensions and output.
