does anyone here own a Goldwing Trike? I have been looking at trikes and found a gold wing for sale .. it appears to be in excellent condition but has 86.000 miles on it.. it was just serviced and anything wrong with it was repaired. so how durable are they. it is a 2003 and the owner wants $11.995 for it.. but said price was negotiable.. so what do you experts think..

Does it come with a rainbow flag, or do you need to buy your own?

i have a 04 wing sitting in the garage with about 40k on it. totally reliable bike, wish i could ride it given my current physical limitations.
some years ago i was riding it home from work, another much earlier wing pulled up alongside me at a stoplight, about 4pm in afternoon, calif. plates. guy said he left the coast that morning.
finally had it tuned up at 100k not because it needed it, but deserved it.
typical honda story
had a friend that had a harley trike.
just couldn't stay with his wife's wing on the hills.
if taken care of, try a lifespan of 500k miles.

After 86,000 miles I bet those colorful plastic streamers on the end of the handlebars will need to be replaced. smile

Hubert, fwiw,
Two acquaintance have them and are regular riders in groups or single. They put on quite a lot of miles per year.

Both have the smallish matching trailers that they pull behind them. Both have the flashing strobe main headlight for day riding.

Both are ex-Harley Davidson riders. They much prefer the trike to the 2 wheelers and said they wished they’d have gotten them a lot sooner.

Not much help, I know. Checkout what NADA has to say about values.

You might also see what the Shriners have for sale on their website. There used to be a bunch of them.

Go for it. Enjoy it.

If it's been properly maintained that mileage is nothing to worry about.

That mileage is nothing to a goldwing.
Just don't let one sit a long time with this
crap gasoline we have these days.
Siphon out any old gas if it has to sit unused.

JMHO- I've rode a couple of top drawer
trike conversions, and I'd as soon just
go somewhere in my truck.

Buy a station wagon and kick the windshield out.

I just came from my 3 month check up from the cancer treatment center in Phili.. my PSA went from 24.5 to 4.04. .I got my flu shot and my Hormone shot and I feel great.. I want to ride but I have lost a lot of strength and have problems on my Harley at the end of my ride.. it is hard for me back up with my feet because of my loss of strength in my legs .. The Honda has a reverse gear to help me that's one reason I decided to go to a trike.. thanks for all the info.....

86K is a lot of miles Honda or not. Regular maintenance is a good thing. It was not built by Honda.. Some one else did the conversion. Whom and how good. 2003 is 17 years old. At least it should have a reverse gear, a good thing. One pays the money and takes ones chances. $11K sounds pretty high to me, for the year and mileage.

No idea on the right price for that machine but, if it has been properly maintained that mileage is no worry. How are the tires?

I have never been much of a trike fan, having owned owned/ridden quite a few excellent motorcycles earlier in life. But, a couple of years ago some of my former students invited me to go on a week-long motorcycle trip through the Southwest, starting at a Harley bike rental place in Las Vegas. I went. Before that, my wife had been curious and asking if we might get a trike - easy enough for her to handle, stable, reverse gear, etc.

So, for that trip, I rented one - a high cc Honda Wing. It was excellent for the long road - easy, comfortable, high top speed, good mechanics, etc. I was able to give my wife a good report after a week of riding through quite varied roads. The one big thing I missed - did not appreciate the absence of a good lean and that real bike feel on curves at speed.

Have not yet bought a trike.

Not a bike owner, I don't have a dog in the bike fight.

But one thing I have noticed.
Driving truck, I saw Goldwings going down the highway, traveling.
Actually riding the bike clicking off miles.

Harley riders, seem to be in groups and ride from convience stir to convience store,
or bar to bar. They don't seem to put milkes on the bike, it's a social thing.

Exactly what I was thinking. Too many miles, too high a price.
