But it was diverse while it lasted!

Barbara H. Whye: In January 2015, Intel set a goal to reach full representation of women and underrepresented minorities in its U.S. workforce by 2020. We committed $300 million to support this goal and our broader goal of improving diversity and inclusion in the entire technology industry. We’ve now achieved our goal of full representation in its U.S. workforce two years ahead of schedule. Our workforce now reflects the percent of women and underrepresented minorities available in the U.S. skilled labor market.

Well I just don't get it. I thought Intel makes chips and sells chips. If they're going to just buy chips and sell chips, what the heck are they going do to stay in business when TSMC hires some better salesmen?

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.

If Oregon had mandatory drug testing nobody would be working in that state

Intel in Hillsboro, Oregon employs 21,000 people.

It'll be interesting to see how many of those 21,000 people get cut. I'd guess that it will be all of them before it's all said and done.

Had to check this one to see if you were talking about the company or Oregon mental capacity in general.

So she help blow 300M making women and minorities feel good instead of hiring the best qualified bodies to build good s h ! t for the market...hiring either over another is discrimination unless they are the best for the job.

From the construction cranes and billions of dollars of expansion at DX1, I doubt it's going to happen any time soon. But I'd hate to dash the fever dreams of our sage from Ken-Tuck-Eee.

From that linked article:

Yeah, that's why they have not yet and might not take that step.

"Indeed, Intel’s Oregon work will continue uninterrupted whatever Intel decides in January. But it’s the advanced research and manufacturing that serves as the center of gravity for Intel’s Oregon operations, and if Intel sends the production work elsewhere it will inevitably diminish the state’s role within the company."

It just points to more problems in America’s manufacturing base. Intel has had some management issues for some time, like most older tech companies. AMD is Intels biggest competitor and outsources all their production and just does development and sales.

I don’t think manufacturing is Intels biggest issue, innovation and management is. To push a tech company ahead you need engineers and risk takers leading. It’s a problem for older companies to find the right leadership.
