Yet another unheralded triumph for Trump. It has been announced that as of this Veterans Day, access to all National Parks will be free for all veterans and Gold Star families. Not just on Veterans Day, but every day thereafter. Read the full article HERE

Same here, tikka. But just in case I forget to take that pass along, it's nice to know I can just flash an ID instead. I presume that showing it would be good for a carload of people, just as the hang tag pass is.

I bought a life time seniors pass yesterday, 90 bucks! They are 80 dollars plus a 10 dollar processing fee. I'll get my money's worth out of it but I am with Jim, paying for what we already own is BS. So many of the National Forest camping sites have gone up in fees I decided to quit denying my age and get one. The best thing that came out of the purchase was spending a little time on the USGS website ( store.usgs.gov ) where you have to go to buy passes now downloading free maps, they do have a lot of really cool schit for free there. https://store.usgs.gov/senior-pass

Should be free for every citizen honestly, but this is a good move for sure.

Problem is, the pols are too busy to provide maintenance funds for the National Parks, or, rather, enough money. The little that comes in as admission helps pay for maintenance of the facilities (what isn't skimmed off for pols favorite programs).

As did I... But I'm glad to hear of this - because not all veterans are elderly..

Instead of taxing people that never use them they need to increase the volunteer participation. If you care, get involved. I belong to the Voyageurs national park association. We help the park staff with projects, both financially and physically. Instead of sitting on your butt get out there and help.

It has been free for active duty, but I'm not sure it extended to Reserve or Nat'l Guard. I know it did not extend to Retired. This opens it to all the above.
