I’m looking for some of the discontinued Federal Premium Vital Shock Barnes Expander Sabots in 12ga. Preferably the 3” tipped version, but could also use the 2 3/4” or non tipped version.

Oh, and believe it or not, deer bite. Fairly hard.

For whatever reason, Hastings specifically states not to use Remington ammo in their barrels. And the federal expanders shot great from this barrel. Hence my search.

The shot the best of anything in my old a-bolt slug as well. Prompted me to do the same search a few years back.
Good luck, they’ve been discontinued for a while now.

That they have been! I figured if I had at shot at finding them anywhere, this would be the place. Someone from one of the shotgun states has to have a stash of them they aren’t using since some of those states have legalized rifles. At least I’m hoping that’s the case!

I’m sure they do. Might take a while but I have no doubt you are correct.
Bump for a worthy cause!

I had a Hastings barrel on my 870 and it liked the same slugs. I sold the barrel a few years ago but thought the warning was specific to the Remington copper solid slugs. I shot the Accutips in mine with no problem.

The warning is for any Remington sabot ammunition. Not sure if there is any merit to it, but I don’t want to find out the hard way. You wouldn’t happen to have any of those expanders left over after you sold the barrel would you 🤔

No. I was down to a couple boxes and gave them to the guy that bought the gun. I think Barnes was making slugs with expander bullets as well.

They do, and they suck compared to the federal load.

Still looking for some federal Barnes expanders.

This thread brings back memories of my youth hunting whitetails in the Southern Tier of New York, My 11-87 loved these slugs and I just found a stash in the basement of 6 boxes (minus 1 round) of 3-inch 1-oz Barnes Expanders that I had forgotten about..

Send me a PM if interested....
