Does anyone know if there is a recoil pad that will fit a pre 64 featherweight 06 that doesn’t require grinding. Would like to add a recoil pad to give to my grandson. Thanks Ricky

There may some slip over pads that you can use but I think any regular recoil pad will require grinding

Does it currently wear a pad or is it uncut? If it’s uncut; my recommendation would be keep it that way and buy one which has already been cut ...

It’s uncut and I will not cut it. I’m assuming I can remove the butt plate and add one without cutting. We are all over 6’ tall so the added length is not a problem.More than likely will get a gunsmith to put one on. Just want him to have something from his grandpa.

Thanks AKwolverine for the heads up on fwt stock on eBay. This stock had already been cut and is perfect for my project. My grandson will get a gun he can use and make memories with and get to keep its original stock.

I am really glad it worked out for you Ricky, and your grandson is lucky to have such a wonderful grandfather. What a fantastic legacy.

I have never seen a pad fit w/o grinding. most are made over size. many people I know go on a quest to find a used one close or just right. its a long search but sometimes you can score. I just sold a bunch of old pads. people scarfed them up for just that reason.

I have a local gunsmith that’s going put me a kick ezz pad on. I thought maybe he had retired and he said he was getting close but still had a few kick ezz pads. Really don’t know much about recoil pads but I think kick ezz is ok. Of course I can buy any pad for him to install. You guys got any preference

Get a red pachmayr. Also curious: The ebay stock that someone referred to you didnt work out? Awesome that you are giving your grandson a cool rifle. Im sure he will love it.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

The stock had a pad already, but it needs to be replaced.

The stock had a pad already, but it needs to be replaced. Oh, I see. I'd throw a red pachmayr on it. I did both of these at the same time, I also glass bed them at the same time as well...: The red pachmayr looks great on the original pre 64 model 70 stocks. You could also get a factory repro (Galazan), but they don't soak up recoil as well as the pachmayr.
