By mistake I bought 6XC brass with small rifle primer pockets and am willing to give them a try.

I am currently loading 87gr and 105 gr Bergers with Vihtavuori 550 and IMR 7828SC.

I would not expect any pressure spike using the same loads over a small primer, but maybe I should change to less grains of a faster burning powder?

Your comments will be appreciated, thank You!

My latest tests in my 6x47 Lapua comparing Remington 7 1/2"s to Federal 210's, load for load, showed about a 30 FPS average increase across the board to the 210's over the 7 1/2's.

Thank You, Aalf.

I guess it is compulsory to use Small Rifle Magnums, right?

Does it makes sense to try faster powders first?

Chamois, I had to add .5g more powder when I formed 6 XC cases with Palma brass(7 1/2) vs the large rifle primer....accuracy was bug holes all the way...question was how large is the bug hole?

I see no reason to use magnums, unless that's all you have, although 7 1/2's are noted to be on the "warm" side.

I don't see a reason to go faster on powders either, we're not talking much difference in performance. Depending on where the accuracy node is at, it could be a wash.

My test showed the same load with either primer was the most accurate, the bonus was the 210's were a bit faster....win/win.

Actually, all I have is CCI-400s and was worried they would ignite a heavier charge of slower powder properly.

I will try with what I have and see how it goes.

Again, thank you for your replies.
