I can’t empathize because I’ve never been where you are. We’re going on 24 years married and it just gets better and better for us. My wife is a Saint and I’ve always loved and respected her so I grew up throughout the years and became the kind of man she deserves. We’ve navigated raising children (4.0gpa x 2), caring for a parent with Alzheimer’s and aging parents together, we’ve suffered the deaths of beloved parents, siblings and best friends along with all the hardships that life can throw at us and we’ve been each other’s ROCK when the other needed their strength. From the beginning I said we were a team and as I look back I’m proud that we were (and still are) a team. I’m proud of the example we’ve set for our son and the expectations we’ve set for our daughter. At the end of the day that’s worth something!

Some things that have helped me through the years...I mean they actually helped a friend of mine, I don’t need no damn help......
1) don’t stay at the saloon until closing 5 or 8 nights a week.
1a)if you can’t drive home and you’re crashing in the bed of the truck for the night make sure you call home, even at 4:30 or 5.....everyone will be up soon anyway so it’s not like you’re waking her...but call, cannot emphasize that enough!
2) don’t be an ass hole
3)don’t be stubborn
4)don’t be impatient
5)keep your grumpiness to yourself instead of making everyone else as miserable as you
6)don’t be an ass hole
7)don’t give one another the silent treatment. After a cooling off period, if necessary, sit down and talk it over.
8)don’t be afraid to compliment her for anything no matter how small it is to you be sure to compliment her
9)remember how much you’ve been through together and remember the good times
10)ALWAYS be faithful and honest. Not honest as in you have to inform her that she’s gained 3 pounds, honest as in that you’re always true to your words and actions, not pettiness

I guess, since you asked, my advice I’d ask if you love her, trust her and respect her, that doesn’t mean you have to agree with her, but more like her role in the relationship? I wouldn’t be too fast to throw in the towel unless your misery is unbearable.

I truly wish you both the best of luck and I pray you get the results that are best for you both.
