Any recommendations on zipline kits (or how to build a safe one) for the kids (and me) to ride. We have sturdy trees and I'm thinking about 100-150ft, with some incline, but would be able to get at least 9ft elevation for starting placement.
How do you prevent a tree involved sudden stop at the end? I guess you rely on long and strong legs?
That's what I am exploring. They sell stoppers/brakes of different kinds. Seems like the highest cost is the cable, so going with a kit will simplify things, and not be much more expensive than piecing it together.

Absolutely, I have been reading a bunch of reviews and info.
I know a member here made one for his backyard a few years ago, but couldn't find post to pick up on his experience.
I just made a 300 ft zipline last year, I thought it would be easy but it was a bit more involved than I anticipated. Getting the right pitch to get all the way to the end was a bit of trial and error, and getting it tight enough was a lot of work even with a heavy duty come a long
Kids would have a lot of fun on it. We have one at deer lease that ends in the swimming hole. Even my old ass loves it.
Yes, we are leasing 6ac in a piney woods are, near SHNF and kids are wanting to build a tree house and I wanted a zipline so incepted the into idea in them. Both will be the Christmas break project for us.
I decided on a 200ft DIY kit from DIY Zip kit I added a spring stop and removable trolley.

They have things like a buffer tube that get positioned at the end of the cable to provide somewhat controlled deceleration some distance from the tree.

Television and radio are most effective when people question little and think even less.
When I was a kid we used handle bars of a bike with I bolt. Landing pad was old ping pong table leaned against tree. We survived, but not advising that method.
A buddy of mine put one up for his kids. It started from tree house deck about 10" off the ground. He put the lower end high enough and enough slack in the line that it would start to climb back up towards the end slowing down on its own. His kids were pretty young and it wasn’t very fast but they wore it out!
Whatever you decide to purchase, make sure it's not MIC.

Wireline re-line shop. Should have some lengths of electric line. Fine braided cable.
Don't know anyone. May look around if I decide to expand it. I have a clear 35yds from their planned treehouse to a sturdy pine, and could go longer, but will need to clear some area for that. I got 200ft of cable, so there is room for growth
