I have these old Partitions I haven't even loaded yet. I don't see how I can use them all in my lifetime but maybe in my son's and grandson's lifetime. I fixed up a friend with some. Maybe will hear something about them one day. I have had bang flops with the 35 Remington designed 200 gr RN bought in bulk as well as the 200 gr PSP that looks like what I would call a protected point. That style of PP will delay the opening of your soft point just a little bit. Makes it effective at higher velocities. 358 Winchester and 350 Rem Mag look to have the same bullet loaded in the 200 gr PSP. Be Well, RZ. That you did, and thanks. I will use them and report. Maybe not this season, as life is getting in the way of my deer hunting, but eventually. DF

For deer, it's hard to beat the 200 Hornady Interlock. I thought I'd catch one on a 200 yard shot on a medium size doe slightly quartering away. My MV was 2550 and that Hornady went through and broke out the opposite shoulder. She hunched up and went down about two feet from where she was standing.
I do wish that Nosler would make a 200 Partition but I'm happy with the 200 Hornady on deer.

Yep, you have the evidence. They do work. I have a box.
What's your fav load with those bullets?
I'm also playing with CEB Raptor and Hammer bullets. Loading some, no range time yet.

I like the FTX for 35 Remington. I have made one shot kills in excess of 200 yards with that combo. In a 45-70 it is a grenade. It really destroys too much meat and is not wonderful on penetration. I would have predicted the OP's outcome had he asked what would happen if he shot the FTX out of a .358.
There was no greater freedom than when I would leave Holiday Park Fish Camp heading my airboat west toward the Big Cypress. Fuel for 4 days, a good machete, an ice chest. No phone, no radio. Just God and me and the Everglades.

I would have predicted the OP's outcome had he asked what would happen if he shot the FTX out of a .358. I'm gonna use my 175 and 200 FTX's to blast away, use more substantial bullets on WT's out of the .358 Win. I could smoke a 175 FTX at 2,700+ fps, which would probably perform like a varmint bullet.. The 150 gr and 160 gr. CEB Raptors can be pushed to near 3K fps. Those mono's could get interesting. We'll first see how accurate, but CEB's have shot very well in other rounds (.308 Win and .375 H&H). I'm also experimenting with Hammer 178 gr. and 203 gr. mono's, both have gaping hollow points. They reportedly have very good terminal performance, are said to have less barrel resistance, thus can be shot faster than other bullets of similar weight. We'll see. DF

That's a fine '99 there. I've been wanting to try out the 180 or 200 TTSX for a while now.

I like the 200gr Hornady SP in my 358 carbine for deer. For bear I use the 200gr TTSX.
This year for my Michigan deer season I used the 200gr FTX in my 35Rem carbine. NEVER AGAIN! It blew up inside the rib cage with no exit or blood trail. I found the buck still alive a 100yds and a half hour later, even the finishing shot didn't exit. Back to the Remington, Hornady 200gr RN or the Speer 180FP for deer. Glad to get that report. Am working up loads for my .358 Win, using 175 gr. and 200 gr. FTX's. They are accurate, but will not use them on WT's per your experience. I have 180 gr. TTSX, 200 gr. NAB's, 225 gr. SGK and NPT's to try. FTX is a .35 Rem bullet, its terminal performance design window is reportedly up to 2,600 fps, but sounds like that may be too fast. The 35 Rem usually runs around 2,200 or so. How fast were you pushing them out of your .35 Rem carbine? Thanks for posting. DF DF, 2125fps

Bullets do seem to do odd things sometimes. My brother has seen some pretty impressive carnage before from his .35Rem with the FTX, while I have not. The last two does I shot with mine had minimal bloodshot and one barely even reacted to a lung hit. I thought I might have missed, but she was indeed dead about 40yds away.
Now with even more aplomb

Shot mine this year with 220gr Speer flatnose. Nice exit and not much meat damage.
Tell me the odds of putting grease on the same pancake? I Know they are there, well ice and house slippers. -Kawi

I run the FTX in factory 35 rem. Gotten some pass throughs, if it hits major bone they tend to come apart.....but go a ways within. Would not run that 200gr bullet beyond whatever speed a 35 rem pushes. Thicket hunting, farthest shot so far is 75 yards. Deer are down quick and if an exit ....plenty of barn paint spilled. Im cool w DRT or DROT.

Don’t ya reckon a 175 gr FTX out of a 358 Win, pushed at around 2,700 would be a bomb. Midway had those 175’s, not sure they’re a cataloged item. They look like 200’s, just shorter. Good for sighting in and plinking. Don’t think I’d hunt with them. DF

I can't say enough good things about TAC and a good 225 gr bullet. This is my son from last year and my .358 Win Mannlicher S https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...er-358-win-and-a-black-bear#Post14291486

My 358 Win seems to do better with faster powders, like H-322, RL-7, H-4198, LT-32, etc. Some of those are hard to find. Have X-Terminator ordered. Hoping it does well, similar burn rate. H-4198 grouped better than IMR-4198.
I’m working with monos, 150 and 160 CEB Raptors, 178 and 203 Hammers They are lighter and reportedly should shoot faster. Hammers are said to have less resistance, picking up a few fps. I also have 180 TTSX’s, 200 NAB’s, 225 NPT’s and 225 SGK’s. Even these grouped better with faster powders, just OK with TAC and those in that burn range. Will give X-Terminator a try with these.

I've used both the 225gr. Sierra Game King and Hornady 200gr RN. Inter-lok in my .35 Whelen. Both give excellent performance on whitetails and are accurate out of my rebored pre'64 M/70. IMR 4064 is my preferred powder with the 225 and IMR 3031 with the 200gr..

DF Here are pictures of the .358 CEB Raptors, a 150 ER and a 160 Cu. They are the same size, so I guess the extra weight is due to the specific gravity of copper being slightly greater than the specific gravity of brass. Now, I have no way of knowing what their specific compositions are, probably proprietary info. From what I can find on the internet, the Sp. Gr. of Cu is around 5% more than the Sp. Gr. of brass. The difference in the weight of these bullets is around 6% from what I can figure. I'd bet they were cut on the same machine, just from different materials. They say the brass isn't Kosher in lead free areas, whereas Cu is. Must be the possibility of a trace of Pb in brass. Who'd have known.... Here they are shown with .358. Hammer 178 and 203 gr. bullets. Note how their rings are made, designed for less friction. The CEB's have a small driving band that sits outside the case when seated. You can see it if you look close. iPhone pictures aren't the best. Note the HP's on the Hammers. The CEB tips hide an even bigger HP. I know CEB's are designed to shed petals, the core boring on through. I think the Hammer's are similar, know less about them. I have limited experience with CEB's, none with the Hammer. Interesting trivia. DF

Wicked looking bullets. I guess I am old school.......I like 3 bullets in 35s....
Handgun bullets for cheap plinking on milk jugs
225 Sierra's on Deer and Hogs
225 Partitions for Elk, Bear, and if one were in Africa.
I've always like the 185 - 210s in the 338-08....aka Federal.
That said - cannot argue with success, more ways to skin a cat and a 35 is not short on mass.

Well, pretty is as pretty does.
So, we'll see. Guess I'm a sucker for a new gadget, even a new, different kinda bullet.

J, Good feedback. I have often thought about hunting with the 200gr FTX in my 358 Win. I'll just keep them for the Winchester Model 70 FW 35 Rem I'm having built.
Thanks, Dinny
