I’m looking at the 2-12x50 models. Have you looked at these two together? Does one have an edge over the other in terms of optical clarity or ruggedness? I’m assuming both are great with clarity but does one have a reputation of being well built, rugged, maintaining zero with heavy use, etc.
I’m not concerned with twisting turrets on either of these two. They will be sight it in and leave it alone type scopes. However, I can’t look at these side by side. Just wanting to know any pros/cons between these scopes.

I like Meopta. But it isn't in the Swaro Z6 class. Without trying to ruffle feathers, I'd put Meopta Meostar in the Leupold's upper tier.

Swaro either threatened to sue or sued Meopta when they came out with the R2 line. I wouldn't waste 2k on a Swaro lowlight scope period end of story.

So thats why the r2 stuff kinda went under the radar

A lot of folks would be surprised at how many companies Meopta makes components for. I guess it's the old story, if you build quality, others will pay for it. The R2 is one heck of a scope and truly impressive in low light. I probably get asked where can I find the MeoStar R2 2-12x50 RD more than any other R2. Sadly, I have to just say, Google is the answer. Sometimes Meopta Dealers can order them for you, the supply train is slow but worth the wait.

Plagiarized from Bird Forum.....
Meopta used to make military optics for the Warsaw Pact and after the fall of the Berlin Wall, were bought by a Czech-American businessman. They still make military optics, just for NATO now, and also optics assemblies for others. The previous-gen Leica APO-Televid spotting scopes were made by Meopta, and I believe some Zeiss-branded ones as well. I have their Meostar S2 82 HD spotting scope with the 30-60x wide eyepiece, and it is an outstanding instrument.
We al know that the Cabela's Euro (Instinct) was as well, as well as the high end NF spotter, Trijicon HD binoculars, and a few others that have slipped my mind.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.
