Learned to play Bourre’ when I was little. We have a group of friends we play with. I like it a lot better than poker. You can get your ass kicked with a good hand, sometimes win with a sorry hand. It depends on how the cards fall. It is mostly a Coon Ass game, my people came from Louisiana originally. We play for a dollar ante. Some pretty good money changes hands sometimes.
Any other Bourre’ players on the 🔥 Fire

That term was in an old country song, the title of which escapes me now. Or maybe it was a Jerry Clower show.

Yes. I have the cards but not the rules. We made up rules that seem to work. They live in my camper and are one of few games that we can all play together.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

Yes, my relatives played bourre when I ws a kid growing up in southwest Louisiana. When everyone came in for the game they frisked everybody for knives, if you didn’t have a knife they gave you one.

I think this is mostly a regional game.

I think this is mostly a regional game. I’ve only heard coon-ass talk of it.

Played it one time in South Dakota in the evening after a pheasant hunt. Some of our friends/customers from Louisiana introduced us to it. If memory serves, we were all over served, and the game ended in a tussle. Thanks for resurrecting that memory, from around 1995! 😎

Any other Bourre’ players on the 🔥 Fire $1 ante Bourre' is too rich for me. While in college, we use to play $.01 ante and make drinking money. $.10 ante was playing for serious money.

Played it in college a lot. With a dollar ante, it can get less than friendly in a hurry.
