Perfect Scott that’s what I’m looking for thanks I’m on it!! No problem buddy. That is one of my favorite combos for a young killer. Super light on recoil and some bullet weight that really hammers deer.

Good stuff Men, I listed a 140gr NPT with RL-22 earlier in this thread, perfect load for my hunting weight 6.5x55, have since had a varmint/target rifle in 6.5 Swede built on a M-70 long action with a 7.5 twist 28 inch Kreiger barrel, it's load:
New Lapua brass 53.5gr H-1000 147gr ELD CCI-BR2 COL 3.130 inch VEL 2940 fps..............with latest lot of H-1000.
Will put three in 2.5 inches at 500 yards, haven't had a pig or coyote come out yet to try it on.

Seafire, thanks for posting your mild loads for long throat milsurps on page 9. I needed another brush gun like a hole in the head, but a Norwegian Krag followed me home the other day....Bubba sporter, cleaned it up, and the first load I tried was your 30 gr of Rel-7 and a heavy roundnose...bingo. With iron sights, 10 shots in less than 2 moa with a bore that looks like a poorly maintained culvert. Big smile, because that is not how my yard sale bargains usually turn out.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Looks like my Tikka loves Reloader 23 behind Sierra 130 gr Gamechangers.
With three different loads, all were 5/8" or better. My best 3- shot group was 3/8" at 100 yds. 2830 FPS 3.0 ES 47.8 grains. COL- 3.100"
I'll be playing with that one some more.

Had a friend of mine work up this load for whitetail/mule deer. Devastating at 200 yards or less, where most of my shots are taken. Mod 70 FWT 160 gr Sierra round nose, #1750 (not made anymore) 42 gr #4350 cases trimmed to 2.155 Win large rifle primer 2460fps, not the fastest, but quite efficient, 3 shot groups inside 3/4' at 100
Have now gone a Hornady round nose bullet. Haven't taken anything with these yet, no change at the bench

'A friend of mine uses the now discontinued Hornady 160 grain round nose 6.5mm bullet in his 6.5x55 and likes them very much. He has taken a bunch of whitetails with them. Mule Deer found fault with their performance, as I recall. I have a box or two on hand.

This was a good thread to read tonight at 2 AM, when I wake up and can't get back to sleep...
I'll have to think about dragging out some of my Swedes, to get me thru winter per usual...
Been playing with the Ruger American in 6.5 Grendel a lot lately, doing load development that per usual are off the tracks, way out in left field...
As usual also, a lot of guys like those slower powders where I am a mid range powder guy.. 4064 and RL 15 being the first two powders I reach for for this round....
The 6.5 bore is almost as much or more fun to play with than the 6mm and 22 caliber bores...
Might as well run thru what I have before Joe Bin Biden send Bozo ORourke to the front door to collect anything I have that goes bang... before I am hauled off to the Gulag for being a White Middle Class guy, who is conservative, believes in God, isn't gay, military veteran... who hates Antifa and NLM, democRATS.. who doesn't smoke, doesn't hardly ever drink alcohol, is against legalization of drugs, even dope...hates communists, socialists, child molesters/pedophiles, transients.. and any one else who is a drain on the nation's economy and social system.. Ya know, the type the left thinks is automatically a RadicalTerrorist in leftist eyes...
Less than 72 hours and were back to being ruled by DemocRATS....

35 grains of IMR4895 under a Nosler Partition 140gr with Federal 210M primer. My Ruger No.1 with put the the first two in one hole at 100 yards. I’m gonna try something like this... light load of IMR-4895 or RL15... with 123 AMs as a mild (2500-ish?) deer load this fall. Anybody try such a thing? It worked pretty well for me in my Swede Scotty, were those shot at 200 yards? I shot my old carl gustav this morning. Working on some loads with RL22 and 140gr Barnes match burners. First group was 3 shots at 3/4" approx (I need to measure it), then the last load (44gr RL22) was 1.43" for 5 shots... Pretty centered on the target though. I'm hoping I can hold that on the next military rifle comp my club has next month... I'm debating buying a set of swedish sights (both front and rear aperture) for the old girl, since she shoots so well, but I don't know if it's worth the $400.00 for those sights...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

My go-to load is 46gr.IMR-4831, either 130 Berger VLD Hunter or 129 Hornady SP Interlock, RWS LR primers (yeah, I have a serious stash of them), and Lapua brass. OAL is longer than spec'ed because the Ruger 1A has a really deep throat. Accuracy is pretty decent- 1/2 to 3/4 MOA for three shoots, rarely over 1 MOA for five shots.
I kept coming back to IMR-4831 with my Swedish Mausers that came and went over the years, and now the Ruger 1A seems to dote on it. Frankly, I can't try every suitable powder known to mankind and IMR-4831 returns consistent performance so I stopped there - with plenty of other irons in the fire, I have enough experimenting to do to last me.
