I don't post on here just a whole lot. Lurked on here for years before I ever got a sign in. As most of what I've pecked on here has been with a company issued laptop or phone, I'm usually pretty careful what I type. More so the older I get. I don't even allude to where I work or where I've worked, just to avoid complications. For the last few days, I've felt compelled to write this. If you were there, then you know.

In January 2017, I was at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO. I worked for a different company then, and we had a TV and DVD player in the booth to play product demos. Our booth was pretty good sized for that show and we were located at a pretty major intersection. We were there the morning of Donald Trump's inauguration. We arranged the wire that served as the antennae to pick up the event, and had the inauguration, live, in the booth. Shortly, we had quite a crowd.

As we watched the swearing in, I realized that he had won. The guy I had voted for had been a success in life, had beaten a formidable (and evil) opponent. He had beaten the left wing media that had no inclination to tell the truth, much less be un-biased. Fact was, he had beaten his own party. This simply had not happened in my 43 (at the time) years.

As he gave his inaugural speech, I realized that we had a President that would look out for Americans first and fore most. He would look out for our jobs and do all he could for our well being. He recognized that our systems were broken and unsustainable. I had to walk off for a minute. I hate to admit it, but the emotion of the moment and the feeling of immense pride in our country and our new leadership was almost a bit much. The sense of optimism for our nation and our economy was palpable throughout the crowd.

Then the news started. Picking his speech apart. Telling us how "divisive" and "hateful" it was. Showing the riots in D.C. around the inauguration (there were smaller riots in Denver or "unruly protesters" I think was how it was termed) . The broken glass, looted business, burning cars, no one condemned it. They were expressing themselves against his "hateful" rhetoric. A harbinger of things to come (or that were already here). We turned the T.V. off after about 5 minutes of that crap, and played our DVD's.

Here we are. Four years later, four years of President Trump fighting a media that openly embraces being a propoganda machine. Fighting a Republican party that has detested any ability to lead for at least the last 35 years. Fighting Chinese money. Fighting a manufactured virus. Fighting manufactured news and social media. Fighting manufactured votes.

Four years later, I'm not in Denver. I'm at home. I'm not watching the inauguration. I'm with a different company now, like lots of folks, a better job came along during the Trump Economy. I thought I might get to retire before I die, but now I doubt it. Not much pride. We have one party and no leaders at this point. Optimism is defined as hoping things don't get "too" bad.

What a difference four years makes. The only thing I can sort of cling to is to defiantly think that, despite what I am told to think, Donald John Trump will always be my President. Was he perfect? No. Far from it. Just the best to come along in my lifetime..........

Well said, us Americans have no one to blame but ourselves. We are allowing this all to happen in front of our eyes with no clear leader to stand up. Trump was the leader, you can see what we have let the machine do to him unchallenged by the people he helped most....the working class.

........ Amen to that... We allowed this takeover to happen. Just like I was told back in the 1960's about how the German Socialist Workers Party, ( AKA Nazi's ) took over Germany and did it all legally and legislatively. I heard this first hand from people who were there and got the hell out while they still could and came here because they had relatives in the U.S.. How did the Nazi's take over Germany ? They were allowed to.

Thanks for posting this.
We are entering what could be a very dark period.

Amen brother.

Being a veteran I am sick at my stomach today.

Benjamin Franklin's words about us having a " Republic if we can keep it "running through my head.
