My wife wants an auto 20 for herself to shoot and our kids to grow into eventually. This will be an all purpose, jack of all trades setup, mainly for backyard clay pigeon shoots, Wednesday night at the gun club, dove shoots etc. She is ok spending up to $1,500 but wants a "good" setup.......no o/u or pumps. She is ok with an auto 12 some of the time but after shooting a Rem LT-20 recently, she really enjoyed it more. I looked around GB and did not see any LT-20s we liked.
I'm leaning towards a Benelli or Browning. What else in this range should I check out?
When I shot competitive clays, 10 years ago, Beretta was the most popular auto. I'm not seeing a current Beretta in 20 gauge so what is considered the best, all purpose auto 20 today? Soft recoiling, interchangeable chokes, etc. Looking for a solid, nice choice.

If resale is a down the road consideration it is one of the B’s.
Understand why some like their old school 1100's.....However, Remington 1100’s can’t hang with any of them for reliability, less finicky on maintenance or resale. Been that way for at least a decade and the 1100 hasn't been the choice of SA competition shooters for longer than that....for the above reasons and then some..
Remington themselves came out with a different SA to try and keep up with the others. Then with Remington currently out of business, there is another reason to buy something else.
One of the current Winchester SX variations is another solid choice.

If it's going to be used by several different people, I'd look hard at the Franchi Affinity. Reason being the several different thicknesses of easily changeable recoil pads they offer to change the LOP.

Thought about that after I posted. Especially with a younger person also using the shotgun. Beretta used to make a model with quick change pads...not sure if that is still the case.

My aunt had a Browning Light 20, Auto 5 variant when I was a kid. I spent a week one summer at her farm, and she sent me out with that beauty and a box of shells. Told me to thin out the cats in the barn, as they had gotten too prolific. Spent the afternoon in her big old barn, blasting cats of all sizes with that gun. Six or seven years old, I was in heaven. If looking for a 20 auto on your budget, that’s what I would look for. Beautiful gun, smooth shooter, and dead reliable.

It appears to be a nice one with wood stock and RemChokes, and all original. Those are hard to come by.
Talk is cheap. It takes money to buy whiskey.

Winchester Sx3 20 (don't think they offer this in youth)
Wearherby sa-08 youth 20 ga
Escort makes several youth model 20's. The Turkish guns get a bad rep but for non-high volume shooters, they work well.
