Looking for some of the originals in 180 gr.

I haven't tried the Federal version with the polymer tip.
Does anybody have any experience with the Federal version with regard to terminal performance?

Had a bunch. Sold to a friend here on the fire. If you can’t find any, transition over to North Fork bullets and you won’t skip a beat.

I've got a total of 68. 2 unopened boxes and a partial box of 18. Problem: they are 200 grain.

I've killed my last 5 deer with a 30-06 shooting federal 165 grain trophy bonded bear claw. Idaho muleys and oregon blacktail. Shots between 30 yards and ~270. I have a bad habit of blowing up shoulders, and every deer has looked the same. Close shoulder was generally broken in half with a half inch hole through the shoulder blade. Exit wound was either rib cage or far shoulder, and full blow throughs on every deer. I've yet to see one go more than 30 yards after a hit.

I hunt muzzleloader elk, so I haven't used these on anything huge, but my two big blacktail were estimated 200 and 230 on the hoof which is a decent sized deer for here.

Absolutely! I'll see if I can find some pictures. I'm pretty sure I have a couple good ones around.

Best I can do for you is this. I was curious how weight retention would be, so I shot a madrone log at about 100 yards with a 165. I split the log and dug this guy out about 10" deep. Weighs 151 grains, so like 92% weight retention. Jacket opened to a max of .832, but average for the width is closer to .600.

Obviously madrone isn't the same medium as a deer, and I have no clue how they do at long range when they're going slow. But at speed, they open well and retain weight in a heavy medium, which I assume could translate well enough to busting through bone and still having energy to break stuff.

I have a few... just 2 white boxes of the 180's.
I do have several boxes of the brown box Speer version.

Happy to trade for some Bitterroots... smile.

Oh man look at the BBC’s!

Good collection of NF’s. Love them. Work great on anything big and/or nasty.

I had a bunch at one time, sold them, except for a bunch I use in 223’s and 22-250. I ran a good bit of airlines in his shop, took pay in bullets. When I’d walk in he would say. “ The honeydipper is here”

He was a nice man, always had time to talk guns or hunting. The world was a poorer place when Jack Carter passed.
