What have you based a 22 SHORT project rifle on?
Thinking Redman Liner in 1:20” twist but also just going with a ‘standard’ twist of 1:16” since some say it’s just as accurate (or inaccurate!).
Factory possibilities are early Winchester model 56 & 57’s, T/C Contender Fox Ridge barrel if you can find one, MGM customs, etc.
The CZ 457 with interchangeable barrels might be a good base rifle.
Ok, probably very few are interested in the 22 SHORT round but my interest seems to be ongoing.
Might have to order a 22 SHORT MATCH reamer yet.

Have a T/C Contender with Fox Ridge short match chamber, 16" twist and it does OK

Uses a Millett SP-1 red dot and it went to the range one day after a thorough bore clean to verify zero. 25 yards shot in numerical order.

On a more serious note:

The gun has killed more than 100 hogs and only one required a second shot. Most shots are in the 15-25 yard range. Record was 38 yards, measured.
With the CB shorts it is sufficiently quiet that I had occasion to shoot 5 one day without taking a step. Mom and Dad in the 200# range, kids running about 40#.

It does not distinguish between CCI CB rounds or CCI short target ammo. Same performance.

Used to have a Rem 572 (S,L,LR) that was quite accurate with CB shorts as well. Expect that is not likely the norm, but it did well.

I am..........disturbed.

I've got an ancient and decrepit Remington M24 that still shoots as well as I can see the iron sights, and I've killed a lot of trapped raccoons with it without any issues, but would I do another one, new? Nope, the price of LRs makes them a more logical choice for me.

I had the shorter barrel model 24 in 22 SHORT. It had a ring in the bore but still shot fine as the ring was close to the midpoint of the barrel.
As far as SHORT ammo, I’ve picked it up here and there through the years and have a few thousand rounds.
What I’m also keeping a lookout for now is 22 LONG ammo. Not long ago I found and bought Winchester 22 LONG CB MATCH ammo!....never dreamed anyone would make or shoot that!?

Anyone tried making the 22 Short adaptor out of a 1/2” PVC coupler to make Ruger 10 shot mags into SHORT capability? Next project for me.
There’s a few YTube videos on it. Interesting.
