I agree. I have the 512 American. It will put the CCI A22 ammo into tiny 100 yard groups.

I’m assuming that’s a takedown screw?

Indeed. A favorite pawn shop in Bonners Ferry. Was out shooting it today.

I have an H&R 700 with a 4X H&R scope mounted. These were good shooters. I got in a trade ten years ago and it's been a safe queen since.

This post is obviously off topic . . .

I don't know why I came to this conclusion, but in a SHTF scenario, I always thought of the .22mag as a "longer" range sniper round best utilized in an accurate bolt action rifle like the Kimber Mod 82, which I own, and is a peach of a "long range .22 rimfire" round.

Notwithstanding the OP's question, and that .22 mag ammo is more expensive than .22 long rifle, when push comes to shove, in a SHTF scenario, if one wants a rapid fire .22 rimfire semi-auto, the Browning .22LR is the simple answer!

Not to mention a plethora of quality handguns feeding .22LR.

For that matter, why not cover all the bases and get a Rossi Galley pump gun which digests .22 short, long and long rifle?

I have three 22 mags...like the Volquartsen and the Magnum Research pretty well. My Magnum research is great fun to shoot and quite accurate but I had a couple of issues... not the most reliable semi auto 22 mag I own. The Savage I have is very accurate but a bit heavier and a bit more unwieldy than the others.

Having said that, I almost bought a cz512 the other day. Looked really good... This may be the right 22mag to begin with. Only issue is that as far as I know, it does not come with a threaded barrel.

My patio gun is a 22mag with a suppressor. Neighbors don't hear much if a varmint were to get shot.

I see where the Browning semi-auto 22 made the "OK" list for DiFi's gun bill.
