7-24-07 made 19 wks for DPMS 6.8. E-mailed them it's going to be another 4-6 wks. Needless to say I'm not happy. I told them I hope the gun is worth the hipe and shoots as good as their .308. So think twice about ordering from them. I was going to order a Rock River but they said 16 wks when the dealer told me DPMS was only 12 wks.

I told them I hope the gun is worth the hipe... I know it's frustrating, but I have a DPMS, and it does shoot! Hang in there and make your determination after you shoot it. I think you'll be happy.

I don't think it matters what you order or from whom, if it has to do with an AR it's in high demand and you're going to have to wait most of the time.
Can't fault the company when everyone is trying to buy up all they can get, while they can get it.
PS. blame the gun grabbers!

My DPMS .308 shoots amazingly well, so I think you'll be happy once you finally get the thing...

Waiting is part of the game right now. You aren't the ONLY one wanting to stash some away before Billary.... They can only make so many at a time.
Its no different than having to wait for other things...
Most of the manufacturers may be at Perry right now for a few weeks too, taking advantage of that and as a company support team for their clients.
Good luck and be patient.
Jeff

I'll venture a bet that the 6.8 is going to take time because they're not making many of them. Back burner.
The demand for the 6.8 has not been overwhelming. They're selling every .223 they can turn out, so if you get an order for 200 .223s and 2 6.8s, which are you going to fill first.
There was a good article in Rifle magazine about the 6.8. It has been a disappointment to its developers, I believe. They've had problems making the advertised velocity and had problems with accuracy.
Remington, who developed the cartridge, does not make a rifle for it in the current catalog. Caveat emptor.

Mike, I had read that they did not offer the weapon in that caliber this year. To confirm this I called Remington HQ and they said the rifle was not being offered this year. So while it's in the catalog, it's not available. As I recall, the 788 was a rear-locking rifle, and the 7-08 a front locking rifle. Big difference, but I might be wrong on that. Never owned a 7-08, did own several 788s.

Correct on the 788(1967-1983)! The rifle/action was discontinued after the action became a favorite for benchrest rifle builders over the XB-40.
Talked to Ron at Remington Corporate and got the answer that nothing for 2007. Mike
