Rem KS 375 H&H Stainless Mountain Rifle for sale. All metal looks great and you can see that it's barely been shot by the bolt face. It comes with a factory break that is not removable. The stock has very slight marks on the forearm which I tried to capture in the pics but it's a McMillan so no issue. I can send more pics if needed.
JBB, the brake is a greater diameter that the barrel, so it almost has to be a different piece of steel. Unless it's press-fit on or welded, it should come off.
I have had a bunch of KS guns and this is the only one I've seen with the factory break. If memory serves I think I called Remington when researching it and they said it was not removable, but that doesn't make it so. I will do some research and update if I find out differently.
Have a factory brake on my 270KS...yeah I know. but it came that way...that has left hand threads. If it gets jammed when turning it on, its a bear to get off. I stick a rod through the holes and gently turn it off clockwise. My brake material is soft so if you try, don't crank too hard as yours may be as well. Good luck. Joe
PS I have a 375 as well, no brake, but if at 7.5 lbs like mine, scoped and ready to go....the brake may be good to have if you tolerate the noise better than recoil.
I had the orginal Alaskan Wilderness Rifle with no break in 375, weighted in at 6.8 lbs. It shot great but after a bit the pounding just wore thin. I re-barreled it to 270 wby and it's now one of my favorite rifles.
Thanks for the info and I'm going to check with Remington before I start cranking on anything too hard.
I considered re-barreling with no break to 300 or 338 WM but I already have 3 different 300's and one is a KS but not stainless. I had it bedded, re-crowned and dropped in a jewel, work done by Clay Spencer and it puts 3 shot groups of 180's into a 5/8" group every time. It's been my go to for about 20 years.
Last I heard the new owners were trying to get things up and running, but the union is putting up stumbling blocks. My guess is that IF the owners ever get it open, it will move out of NYS due to multiple issues.
Man, this is really tempting! That that brake is a non issue for me. We are closing on a house today though and I'm pretty tapped! Where are you in the Commonwealth?
