And, it's a good shooter! Has a Redfield Wideview 2-7 on it that seems to hold zero, but has pretty lousy optics. Kinda blurry, couldn't seem to adjust it to where it was clear. Still managed 1/2" - 3/4" 5 shot groups at 50. Gotta get better glass... The trigger is a bit heavy, but breaks very clean. The rifle itself is pretty heavy, as well, and minimizes the effect. All in all, very happy. It's a good rifle! Apparently made 1960- 1961.

It IS! It is the same sort of rear locking lever action as a Savage 99. The lever throw is much shorter, due to the cam type construction. Unfortunately, triggers are a bit hard to do anything with, but it is good enough. I had a Marlin Model 39, but gave it to my grandson. Nice rifle, but not as accurate as my Model 56 or Model 57.

Benchman: Is that a 22 Magnum Rifle?
I used to try to get those older Redfield WideFields to work on rimfires at 50 yards or so and they just would not completely focus correctly that close in. I recommend an adjustable objective, rimfire or E.F.R. model scope for your needs.
Good luck with the cool Rifle.

Yup, a 22 WMR. I also have a 22lr Marlin Model 56. I have a 4-12 Bushnell ordered for it (the Model 57m). It also has a redfield peep on it. My eyes really aren't good enough to hunt a peep past about 30 yards on squirrels. Can't tell which end I'm looking at!

Got a better scope, a Bushnell 4-12.
Here's a 50 yard 3 shot group.

Thanks! 5 shot strings stretch it out a bit more.
