I bet that mule is in love with Annabelle!!

Yer bringin' back nightmarish memories, SS. Right now, Annabelle don't like him much. He hangs with Tonk or my wife's dog.

I wish I could figure out why mules want to buddy up with mares that obviously don't like them. These two young ones alwasys want to be around the mare, and she hates thier guts. Won't work in harness with them, but will with the old gelding mule I have. Freeze branded all three mule suyesterday, that was fun, NOT!.

Grass is getting up to around 4 inches here, so I statred turning the young ones out.

Wish that new saddle would get here.

God alone knows what will make an equine's heart go pitter-pat. Mules attracted to mares - you can see that! But I once had a horse fall hopelessly in love with a goat! They were insperable. Since the goat's well-earned name was Stinky, that was a romance that I was glad to see end!

Some years ago, the pecking order in the turn-out area was (1) my wife's Thoroughbad, Captain, the absolute Tsar & Unbounded Autocrat, (2) Trooper, elderly madman, (3) Elsie, the cow, and (4) my Ranger, who was bigger, stronger, and rather nicer (there's the story) than any or all of them. Trooper, at 25+ years of age, gelded very early, still falls into a demented swoon over every passing mare.

We have a lot of deer in Virginia, and, at dusk, they will be out in the pasture, feeding away, right with the horses. Trooper even fell in love with the does and tried to romance them! Where is Candid Camera when you need it?
