A little late in posting the pictures for my hunt in June of 2007. But here they are. I am always pleased with evey animal when I hunt but I am very pleased with the Steenbok. All were shot with .338 WM with 250gr Nosler Partitions. I have hunted South Africa twice with a gun, now I am ready to bowhunt.

As I also wanted to see them, I checked the photo URLs and found the photos on his web site.

Very nice choppers on that porcine critter; makes mine look a bit puny.

Nice dark, chocolate coat on that waterbuck.

That waterbuck is a classic! I always have liked the bullseye stripe they have on their rump. Please note the happy safari grin on the hunter. You couldn't remove it with sandpaper. Great hunt!

You must be a closet Texan!

I've always thought of them as a species that would be extinct in Texas in about 10 minutes.

If they had a stripe in the shape of a stop sign, they'd never prosper in louisanna!

Thanks for the nice words about the animals. That waterbuck was very old and was covered in scars from fighting. We had heard him fighting with some other males for a few minutes until he popped out and I shot. He is not the longest but he has very very large bases. He as mentioned is very dark. The PH had been after this one and had gotten a glimpse of him early in the season. I am not a "score" person. I prefer good animals that are mature and have lots of character. The Red Hartebeest has nice horns as well but is very old and was going down hill. He had a grey color to him. Again lots of character.

I have taken a few animals with a gun so now I am planning on using the bow. My planned group hunt has fallen through so I am looking for another place to bowhunt.
