Does anyone know of a quick detach base/ red dot combination for a Ruger M77 Hawkeye (416 Ruger)?

I do not know of one. I drilled and tapped 2, # 8-40 holes on the rear bridge of my Ruger M77's, installed a short Picitinny base and use micro tube red dots (Holosun's) with QD mounts, on my Rugers. I have also used Ultra-Dot 30 (long tube type) in Ruger rings, which is sort of quick detach. RJ

The wiegland Rail and QR rings

Personally I think it will hold up to the 416

Thanks for the replys. I had looked for the wiegland rail but could not make up my mind that it was the thing. I have ordered an ultra-dot 30 with 4 moa and I use Alaska Arms QD for other scopes so they are on order as well. I appreciate anyone who gave it a thought. I'd think some entrepreneur with a machine shop could make a first rate QD that would accept Trijicon rmr etc. There must be an alignment issue, strength or something. I know I'm not the only person wondering about it.

Some Rugers come with holes tapped on the integral bases. Should be pretty easy to have that done and then mount something like an Aimpoint Micro H2. I’d not depend on something like the Burris adapter, which works pretty well on lighter stuff.

What fresh Hell is this?

Here is what I have done with my M77's. Using my worse than "Kyber Pass" skills and crude tools, I made small Pic bases for the rear bridge and attached by drilling 2 each #8-40 Torx screws. They'll hold any sight that single point attaches to a pic or Weaver base. My bases are only .175" above the Ruger integral base so it's no problem using Ruger factory iron sights with the red dot removed. Just in case I want to mount a scope on the rifle with Ruger factory rings, I epoxy bedded the mini bases, so with 2 screws they go back on to zero. I have to warn you, the blued Ruger M77 receivers are very hard. The stainless receivers are harder than the blued ones to drill and top. But once done, it is really a nice set up. RJ

I don't know whether the Hawkeye receiver is different from a regular Model 77 (never had a Hawkeye), but I just bought a Burris Fastfire III and their #410332 mount (which I guess is really more of an adapter plate) and screwed it on my 77/357 and then sighted it in. Whether it would stay on a 416; I don't know.

Mad Mac Precision Tactical made me a very nice adapter plate to put the FastFire III on my CZ-452, if you need one made. (I'm just a customer, BTW)
