Looks like the "Ranger Doc will be on his way home soon.

Hi All,
Just got a call from Stephen from Camp Udairi, Kuwait!!!!!!!!!! YA-HOO! He's finally left Iraq. He sounded SOOOOOOOOO Happy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> He kept talking about how cushy it was there. Still no phones or e-mail, but they do have a new chowhall tent that is air conditioned!! (the old one burned down to the ground earlier in the pre-war days) He's had a HOT shower, and hot meals. He's even had some "Ice Cream!!!!" He is in such good spirits.*

He mentioned a brush w/a new unit that just arrived from Germany to replace another group out in Iraq. He was eating ice cream in the chowhall w/his group and they are all sitting there w/their rose colored glasses on talking about how great everything is at that camp. The new group looked at them like they had lost their marbles. I'm afraid that those new boys will soon get a taste of the real desert and dream about their days at Udairi.

Orders have been issued for several groups including his, and the big rush is on to see who wins the first slot on a ship due to arrive at Camp Doha (port) on the 15th of this month. The other rather large group they are up against is from Ft. Stupid ooops did I just say that...I meant to say...Ft. Stewart, GA. Guess I'm being a little bit biased. They are tankers who don't pack light. The ship is actually scheduled to sail to TX which last time I checked was a "purty" far piece from the Georgian peach state. Don't be surprised though...the Army is known for turning the simplest of things into brain busters. If they make this ship...they could possibly fly home w/in the next few wks. once they make their way to Kuwait City. If they miss the "Boat," it could be another month or more of just sitting and waiting for another transport.

Let's pray for an Army miracle...that everything falls into place as "planned." This "WILL" take an act of GOD. I know the soldiers from all the groups are eager and deserving to get home to their loved ones. With any luck...the Army will come up w/an efficient way of reversing this deployment.

For the time being, he has asked that ALL mail...even letters be stopped as it has been announced that any mail addressed to his unit will be returned to sender going forward. I hope all is well w/each and every one of you. Thanks again for being there for us and for your continuous prayers. They are greatly appreciated.* I'll keep you posted.

Love,
Mart & Co.

AMAZING, How some very simple things can bring such pleasure after a little reality check, if you know what I mean.
