I'm looking a #1 barreled action. I know brownells use to carry them. But I don't see them listed at their site anywhere. Or I'm " brainf rtin" this morning. Anybody have any ideas on who else wholesales #1 actions. On <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Life is a journey of many trails, the trail you choose, is not as important as how you walk it.

Onesonek They are listed in the Brownells manual. You may need to call them. Charlie

What are you after?
Having owned #1's since they came out I would rather have an old action as the triggers are adjustable on them and not on the new ones. To me the best part of the #1's is their stocks!
I do most of my own "smithing" and I do well on M 70's but the #1's have me concerned. I would send a used one to a smith, Sisk posts here so ask him.
What I would have done is to install a better trigger and link, lighten the hammer and put in a stronger spring. You can free float the barrel yourself.
Many of the early Rugers did not have good barrels however.
I just sold my #1S in .300 WM to a shop and got $325 for it. I guarantee that I can shoot one MOA groups with it. The rifle looks like new and I gave the rings with it too. So I don't know what Brownells asks for a barreled action but I don't think you could beat an old used #1.
