Did a quick run from SE Oregon to the central coast a few days back to try for Halibut. Cookie always packs the cameras and took a few shots.

Lots of lighthouses this one being Yaquina Head near Newport.

Common Murres that are obviously colonial nesters

And her prize for the trip a Peregrine Falcon nest.

And Dad taking a brief break.

Bagged a couple Halibut (about 34 inchers) but no pics as things got busy when one hauled them aboard.

Have a good one,

We just got back from there. We tried to walk every beach and state park. It was exhausting but the local restaurants made it possible. You quickly learn that knowing the tides is a good thing. Gold Beach was our favorite, we stayed there for a week. Double Ds Diner is the best breakfast on the coast.

When are you gonna come fishing with me?

My Arima is in her slip at South Beach until November.

Nothing better than nice pics and some good eatin' fish.

Thanks to Cookie for the pics and you for posting them.

I have a bone to pick with the Yaquina lighthouse. I'd been there before years ago and climbed to the top of the lighthouse on the circular staircase, it was great.

Stopped there a month ago while on a road trip and paid full price at the park gate just to drive in and stand in the fuggin parking lot.

No notice at the gate that access was closed to the lighthouse.

15 bucks for nothing

Edited to add: beautiful pictures by Cookie as always

Pharmseller:

Will keep such in mind, but it's not often that I venture that far. Must volunteer that I'm really good at chumming, especially when one shuts down and wallows in the waves.

Probably 15 fly rods in the house, but only 1 fairly light salt water rod with a 40+ year old Penn reel installed.

Call me envious, and good luck out there,

Great shots as usual. You will have a lot more to eat than the scrawny little Kokanee I’m catching in NE Oregon right now, but the scenery here more than makes up for it.

Glad the ocean cooperated enough to let you get out. Spring halibut is always a crapshoot when it comes to the ocean conditions.

I’m going to scrap fishing this morning and take a hike up to Ice Lake. Hope to see some mountain goats again. I have some I-phone shots of them last time I was up there a couple years ago on the Matterhorn.

Cookie would love it up there - it’s a target rich environment!

Double D's is good for sure. Next time check out indian creek restaurant. A little better in my opinion. Just up the road to Agnes a few miles.

If you ever need the Arima checked on, let me know. I live about 10 min from the marina.

Try the burritos at Lex's Landing. Nothing compares. The owner, Larry, is pro 2A and doesn't tolerate liberals.
