LR and LP are not the same size, LR are longer, LR have thicker cups and can take more pressure... I wouldn't use LP in a rifle unless I really had to and it was a very reduced load, pistol pressures.
SR and SP are the same size, SP are thinner I wouldn't use them in a 222 or up... I would use a SR in a midrange pistol load as long as the firing pin sets them off.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man a welfare check, a forty ounce malt liquor, a crack pipe, an Obama phone, free health insurance. and some Air Jordan's and he votes Democrat for a lifetime.
Large pistol primers are also used in Magtech or vintage all brass shotgun shells using Black Powder. The Magtech however require primer pocket reaming before use.

They'd work fine in a Kahr CW45, Kimber Super Carry Ultra, Colt Defender, Charter Arms Bulldog, Glock 36, Bond Arms Backup, even a WWII Liberator and none of those are what could be called large pistols.....
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!
Depends on hot you are loading. At low enough pressures they will work just fine. At higher pressures you can expect punctured primers, but you're not going to blow up your gun like some chicken littles claim.
You didn't use logic or reason to get into this opinion, I cannot use logic or reason to get you out of it.

I routinely use them in my .32-40 Winchester High Wall Schuetzen rifle. Better accuracy actually with my load of 14 grains 4227 and 190 grain plain base lead bullet than with LR primers. Stellar performance in .30-30 cast bullet target loads too.
