I got a Marlin 336 in .32 Wincher Special from a guy who owed me some cash some time back. The gun just sits in the safe as I really dont have much use for it. I do think it would be a kick azz deer gun, but I live in the bolt action world and dont know jack about this gun. What is it worth?
So what is the real deal on these guns? I almost never see them in this caliber, are they rare? My eye sight is poor to say the least so if I ever do hunt with it it will need a scope, what ringes and bases do you guys like? Im thinking a 2x7 VXII would be just right.
So give me the low down!!
Thanks in advance!!!!!

I shot my first deer with a Marlin 336 in 32 spl. It's a great deer cartridge. Though there are those who would argue the pro's and con's of both, ballistically its about the same as the 30-30. The gun is not all that rare and it's price would, like other guns, depend on condition and buyer interest. I have 2X7 Nikon's on two of my Marlins in 35 Rem and 444. I used Leopold rings and Millett bases (I got a deal on the bases years ago.) My Dad gave the 32 to one of my nephews and I picked up a Marlin 36RC in 32 spl/ a few years ago. Ammo can be a little difficult to find but both Horaday and Speer make 170 grain bullets for it (.321) and Winchester still makes brass for it.

Loading for one right now. Best group came out at 3 shots in 3/4 inch at 75 yds with a peep sight. Not much to change on this except the front sight to get it dialed in with the Lyman 66LA. Same ballistics as the 30-30 but with slightly bigger hole. Might look at getting a good reciever sight so you don't loose the balance of the levergun by adding a scope. Just some thoughts. Ryan

I took an old beat up fixed 4 power Bushnell Sportview off an air rifle and mounted on my Marlin today, if it shoots OK I think I will get a Nikon Pro Staff in 2x7.
Any one had any experance with the Nikon Pro Staff's? I think there new. The price is only 129, but I think you get what you pay for but its a Nikon, right?
Any one have scope suggestions for this gun, 336 in .32 Special?

The last 32 Special I set eyes on was a Marlin 1936, it wasnt pretty, probably spent most of the last 40 years as a truck gun. Was drilled and tapped also, another gun I should have bought if I had the money.

Ammo availability can be spotty, but Remington and Winchester still load the round. Cabela's had Remington 170 gr. SP for $19.99 per box. At a buck a pop, you may want to get a simple reloading rig or get dies and use a buddies.

After several sleepless nights ( it called loudest when I was trying to sleep ) I just bucked up and gave that old 1936 in .32 Special a good home. We're going deer / bear hunting this fall. I can tell you where a Marlin 1894 .44 Magnum carbine can be found, in central VA, if you're up for a drive or want to have it shipped....

I am putting a very sweet Marlin sporting carbine in 35 Remington on Gunbroker---Sunday night. It has the ballard rifling---not micro-groove and the bore looks like new. Gun is an overall 90%.
If you really like something, you better buy two!
