A few years ago, I started shooting the 85g TSX in the 6 Rem, 700 factory rifle. I had a hot load of R#19, bullet seated .050 off the lands, Fed 215 primer. 3400 fps
I wanted to get some meat in the freezer and with our liberal limit here in SC, I knew it would not take long.
A tornado had come through, and a large oak was all but pulled out of the ground. I went down in the hole and sat on the root ball with one large root making a very comfortable chair to sit on.
I went to sleep and woke up with a doe sanding behind a 8" pine tree stomping her feet and snorting. When I woke, I did not move, simply opened my eyes, then raised my gun slowly.
I put the cross hair on the pine that would center punch the doe's chest as she looked around the pine. At the shot, she collapsed, stone dead.
I called barnes, they told me that the bullet was made to expand on flesh, not trees, thus a very dead deer..

Outside of my coyote rifles, in which I load VMax bullets, The TTSX, or TSX are the only hunting bullets I use. My daughters have used the 6mm 85gr TSX in their 243 on MD and WT. Deadly. They now have been using 7mm 120gr TTSX in their 7-08. I've used 257 115gr TSX in 25-06 and 30 168gr TTSX in 300WSM. Used that on WT, MD and 18 African animals up to and including eland. Very pleased.

When in doubt, call Barnes Customer Service; or email them. They can offer advice for each bullet we make to include the lower impact velocity to insure reliable expansion. Any/every bullet made has limits; not just Barnes. Know what that limit is and you should have reliable expansion.
Alan At one point, in another thread, was under the impression that that info, at least in RE: to the .277/140 gr. TSX, would be forthcomin'. ...or not. GR

The 25 caliber 100gr tsx was a terrible bullet imo. I have been happy with the ttsx version. Mono bullets will never cause the carnage of a typical lead and copper bullet and will thus never kill as fast on average. Shooting them fast and aiming for bone helps.

There would be another head on the wall in the man cave if I had used a more appropriate whitetail bullet from my 7mm-08. I'll only use the TSX's that I have left to foul my barrel. I'll never buy another Barnes anything. You just need a bigger (boat) rifle! Lol
