I remember you talking about that bad well, but I didn't know which one you were referring to. SE would put it somewhere south of Turkey Tank, wouldn't it?

I guess RockyRaab didn't get an advance memo on this or he would have started a thread before the launch.

Had a old welder here that 'used' to turn old underground gasoline storage tanks into culvert pipes and sell.

On his final tank they found parts of him about 200' up on the mountain side.
He went out with a blast!

I have been showing this around work today.

THIS is why we do not circumvent confined space entry procedures.

I played attendant and ran the air monitor on an entry today.

You do not fug around when that LEL alarm goes off.

Trouble is, in this case the tank is full of water and the welders on the roof striking arc. There is no expectation that there is a flammable atmosphere in the vapor space, so this is a situation where you can get burned......this is a good lesson for those of us working around tanks of any kind.....

That is exactly why confined space entry procedures are in place, and why they are law.

One does not even stick an arm through the entry hole unless it has an air monitor attached.

Now there is the possibility the guy never entered the tank. He might have been on the roof or welding a leak from outside. I don't know what OSHA will say if that is the case.

Not sure what that list is?
There are a couple local ines, several years old, not there.
And several that were in this area.

If it was that much water why are the little buildings still standing right next to the tank that blew?
Them little sheds would be gone.

Article said it was a 1.5 million gallon tank..... didn't say it was full.
