If a seller has NR, ask them two contradictory questions. Easy to tell if they are a new seller or a scammer based on the response.

Since it’s still listed, it appears, surprise surprise, that GB doesn’t care.

Should be low hanging fruit for even the mighty ATF to do a sting operation.

Gunbroker has turned into auction arms it seems. I used to use it all the time, no more, especially with them collecting taxes now.

I bid $200,000 on the Marlin for chits and giggles.I also contacted GB about my bid & stated this guy is a scammer.Have not heard a word from GB..

It looks like all the sellers items have been removed from Gunbroker.

It's a good outcome but unfortunately scummers like that just look at this as a minor setback. He'll be right back tomorrow or the next day with a new gmail address, another gunbroker account and another set of stolen pictures and descriptions. It costs him maybe a couple of hours of web surfing to find several new high dollar items to list for sale, and all he needs is for one person to bite and get reeled in to score a couple thousand dollars. If he gets found out then he just starts a new round of frauds with a new user name, on and on.

Once in a great while these people do get caught and actually prosecuted and even convicted, but the odds are in the scummers' favor.

Kudos and good catch to the OP for being vigilant but it is a never ending battle.

I think I read that Gunbroker was just sold about a month ago to another entity but can't remember who. I was hoping at the time this might clean up the problems they are having with scam artists and shill bidders. I guess time will tell how responsive the new owners of the site are...

I've got an 337 A+ rating on GunBroker, and that is just folks that have left feedback. Ya buy from someone with a ton of feedback, their "rep" is more important than the profit they are going to make off one piece. I know that is my case.

Folks that have 5 or 10 years of feedback and 50+ transactions, I've never been burned by.

Same here, newbies and classified cowboys whose adds never feature an I'll take it but a "sold" and post no where else but in the Classifieds, Caveat Emptor.

I've seen several posts recently across multiple forums of GunBroker scammers.

Sad.. They need to fix the issue. I've enjoyed buying and bidding on GunBroker over the years

Scammers have just about ruined GB .. so many Non-rated first timers listing guns at low prices .. wanting payment through Paypal .. now that GB requires tax .. I no longer purchase there

I submitted a complaint and the seller has been removed.

All the sites require sales tax. Thank our government for that. That's not GunBroker's fault.
