Ok i am very new to this so here are the dumb questions lol.
I ordered a Aero M5 upper receiver then a Gen 2 charging handle this is definitely the wrong one it is to short getting ready to reorder but wanted to ask this time what to order and any suggestions on your favorite.
I see ones that say charging handles then Gen 2 then Gen 3 all i know at this point is Gen two will not work.

The M5 is an AR10/AR308 receiver. Did you order an AR15 charging handle? Any DPMS style AR308 charging handle should work on your upper.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

If by Gen 2 they mean a charging handle that fits DPMS GEN 2 uppers, yes, those uppers are shorter than standard and the DPMS Gen 2 length charging handle will not work in a standard length AR10 upper.

Thanks Antelope sniper that makes sense.
Thought something was up last night i pulled two AR 15 charging handles from the two AR 15'2 i own and thought what this does not fit the AR 15 what the heck.
So a Gen 2 makes perfect sense.
Last night I ordered a Aero 308 Ambidextrous Charging Handle thought if they made the upper it is bound to fit lol.
After reading your post I went and checked it is not a Gen 2,3,4 or anything else. Should be good now.

Too bad the ar10 wasn't more standardized, like the ar15.
