Are they ever going to open a season for Grizzly bears? It seems like there's more than enough and they need to learn to fear people.

I heard they have enlisted the Treadwell Institute for Bear Oneness to come out there and teach you folks how to accept the bears, for who they are.

Even in the law it specifically states that you must not use it in self defense of large animals. Sounds like you loose both ways Snacbar. Been there done that, shed hunt on the outskirts regularly and believe me if you give them even the slightest excuse they look to crucify.

Buddy of mine called me this evening to tell me about this. Guess he was in a tent about 25ft away when this went down. Woke up to a bunch of yelling and screaming. Another camper was trying to stop the attack with bear spray. I assume the damage had probably already been done by the time bear spray was deployed. In the time it took my friend to wake up and get out of his tent it was all over and the bear had hauled ass. We'd had a long chat about the bear issue and camping prior to his trip. He's biking the CDT this summer. I advised him to avoid areas where people frequently camped, and to cook/eat then travel a while before stopping for the night. He thought he'd be fine in a campsite that was located in a town. Guess you never know.
