I've been told that the 300 Savage and 8x57 were the 2 worst selling versions of the 700 Classic, so it seems odd that they would bother to catalog either of them again. If Remington did what makes sense, they wouldn't be in the position they are. Good point, they do seem to make the wrong choices quite often. If Remington had any sense, the 260 would already be considered a classic. Instead, they botched it like normal. The 260 could be sitting on every store shelf with competitive prices and booming popularity, nope.

I'm tempted. Really like my 99F in 300. And I like CDLs. May need to liquidate a couple more though before I think about adding one I don't need as I am a fair piece down the road myself.

Bought my daughter one of the older Remington 700’s in .300 Savage. It’s been a great gun and very deadly on whitetails. We’ve been using the 110gr barnes ttsx bullets.

Just made a deal on one of these today. Fella bought it last year and hasn’t gotten around to firing it. I like 700’s and I have all the gear for loading the .300 Savage. I’ll post a range report once I get to shoot the rifle. (And once I find a good pic hosting site (I used to use photobucket….any suggestions for one that will work to put pictures on this site?)

I use Imgur, there are others.
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all. Jack O'Connor

I use Imgur, there are others. Thanks, Blacktailer. I'll make an account. I should be seeing the rifle tomorrow, but I'm off on a work trip for a couple of weeks. Performance-wise, I wish it had a 24-inch barrel, but I bet it's a handy hunter with the 22-incher.

I build my 300 savage on a Remington 600 and had a 300 savage Remington 722 barrel installed, it is one fine shooter!
