The scary thing is that if the officer posted something that makes others think they aren’t objective, they can lose their certification. Right now, that means any comment that can be construed as conservative.

You have to be a special kind of stupid if you EVER post any content which would be found objectionable by your employer or prospective employer.

The first amendment ain't about employer/employee relations.

Here’s where WA. Commission (not) thinking it through, will end this. New, younger recruits will have a higher probability of being on social media and having something that a woke politician would find as disqualifying.

Those individuals who have a zero footprint on social media are very likely conservative, American loving, and Trump supporter.

They’ll likely be hiring the people they hate.

Not that I condone using Faceberg and the like for any purpose at all, but the access being requested would allow them to view content that wasn't "posted" for public consumption, such as direct messages and the like.

But me, I NEVER post anything anywhere that could be construed as objectionable or hateful by any reasonable person.

This will chase more officers into retirement or outright getting clear out of law enforcement. I don't blame them one bit. I have said it before, in 20 years there will be no LEO's on the street. This just confirms my point.

Very much like the total access to anyone for your medical information when you apply for a firearm. Been that way on the concealed permits. Ain't nothing sacred in WA except for the membership roles of Antifa and BLM.

The second, it sure as hell is about the First Amendment if your employer IS the government; aka a police officer.

Imagine how deep the probing must be for a Top Secret clearance. I have 2 grandkids interning in the aero space and telecom fields who have explained the screening process for the serious jobs and say that stupidity at a party is more damaging than political philosophy.

Documenting bad behavior is a common occurrence in the world today and smart people adapt. I am glad they inherited the sneaky gene from grandpa.
