Need advice, Building a 300 win mag hunting rifle using a stiller action and a Nightforce scope with 56-mm objective. I am trying to keep the rifle light but love my scope. I am having trouble picking a stock, I like more of a vertical handle and also need high cheek height for the scope. I am also having trouble picking out a barrel to keep the weight down but also want something stable for 3 shots. Thinking about a #4 24 inch fluted hart barrel with vais muzzle break and the McMillan Sako hunter stock.

Advice welcome.

Thanks for your time.

Your rifle sounds like it will be very nice, but the choices for scope, barrel, and stock rule out being light, unless 10 lbs. is light to you.

The question is sort of like... "I am building a quick fast sports car for Autocross and slolem, but I have these fantastic 40" tall Mudder tires that I want to use - Love em. How do I get all of this to fit together? smile

The rifle you are describing is really sounding like more of a sniping type set up with the verticle type grip etc.

Use the Nightforce on a beanfield or Varmint rifle and get some compnents that all fit together well is my advice. A Loopy or Burris 3.5-10 or 4.5-14 x 40 is all that is needed for a lightweight 300WinMag.

I don't think "Hunting Rifle" and "Muzzle Brake" go togther either.
