15 year old Gordon Setter. Deaf, nearly blind, unsure on his feet, and often seems to be in pain. I would have the Vet do it but the poor dog has a panic attack when I take him there. He won't readily take (pain)pills and will not eat his food if he senses anything out of the ordinary.

That's terrible. I feel for you. You might check into it, but around here there are people that will come to your house and put your pet down. Might be an option to doing the deed yourself if you find it difficult.

I am very sorry you have to go through this. Hoping things go smooth, for both of you.

Tough day, Sorry your Pal has aged so. Some vets will make house calls to put your pal down

That's what we did with our last dog. About 280 bucks, more $ for them to take it away for you.

Nice, gentle vet, dog lying in it's own bed. Feed the dog some delicious tranquilizing treats for a while and after the dog is in faraway land she injects the kill shot. Cry like a baby as they die in your arms. I could never shoot my own dog.

I've put a few down in the past 2 years. Doing what is right is usually not easy, but it's right. Thank God for men.

Rest easy boy.

Had to do that with my sons 15yo Belgian malanois back in June. Our vet couldn’t make house calls as we live 75 miles from her but she did come out to the truck and did it there. Check If your vet will do that. If so get dogs weight before you leave so you don’t have to take him inside for that.

Sorry for you, we went through the same 2+ years ago with our second Cocker. She was a sweetheart. We abstained for two years and am pleased with the latest brainiac. Night and day...

Sorry to hear this. Looking back, those days that I had to have my dog put down were some of the worst days of my life. Just hate it, but you know that it is the right thing to do.

I did it myself last time. Not sure I could do it on another. I don't recommend.

Tough deal, as they become family within minutes of entry. Got 14 years out of our last, and it takes Cookie about 5 years to get over a loss. Just acquired a puppy about 3 weeks ago, and praying it will be good for a similar interval. Now have a need to sort of child proof the house until the new one learns the rules.

Sorry your dog is at the end of the road. Like others have said, call your vet and ask him/her to come out at the end of the day. That's worked for me.

This is what I would suggest.

It’s gut wrenching . I feel for you both.
I’ve been there too and God help me I will again. My 12 year old deaf buddy is asleep at my feet now , he has a few more years..

I have had my vet give me the supplies to do it myself before, in a favorite , familiar place for us both with their head on my lap. Allergies acting up
